A hit-and-run driver left a bicyclist to die after mowing him down Monday night on a service road leading into LaGuardia Airport, authorities said.
The driver hit the 36-year-old bicyclist, who worked for Swissport, after 7 p.m. on Runway Drive, which feeds into the west side of the East Elmhurst airport, police sources said.
Medics performed CPR on the bicyclist, but he could not be saved. The unidentified rider died at Elmhurst Hospital at 7:37 p.m., Port Authority Police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.
Florida shooter legally bought at least seven guns
Authorities shut down Runway Drive in both directions between 94th St. and Marine Terminal Road as police investigated, Pentangelo said.
Swissport provides aviation ground- and cargo-handling services in 48 countries, according to the company’s website.
