The Florida high school shooter had an arsenal of at least seven long guns that he legally purchased, a law enforcement official said Monday.

One of the semi-automatic weapons in Nikolas Cruz's cache — an AR-15 — was used last week to gun down 17 people during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre.

Cruz had access to three more weapons but he did not purchase those guns, ABC News reported, citing the source.

The official, who is familiar with the investigation but not authorized to discuss it, spoke on condition of anonymity. Federal law allows those 18 and over to buy rifles, and Cruz passed background checks necessary to obtain the weapons.

Cruz bought the gun used in the attack from Sunrise Tactical Supply, located in a Coral Springs strip mall, in January.

He put his deadly collection on display in an Instagram post before the Valentine's Day attack that claimed the lives of 14 of his former Parkland classmates. The photo showed seven guns, mostly rifles, on a bed with what appeared to be a bullet-proof vest.

It's unclear if the seven guns Cruz bought were the same ones pictured on social media.

The building where last week's shooting took place will remain closed after the law enforcement investigation, then torn down. Broward County Public Schools will allow teachers and staff to return to the school Friday.

The district hopes to resume classes for students Feb. 27.
