Ruth Negga nominated for best actress Oscar, but Academy Awards lists Amy Adams on website instead

Ruth Negga nominated for best actress Oscar, but Academy Awards lists Amy Adams on website instead
Oscar nominations were only announced this morning — and there's already a major plot twist.

Ruth Negga was named a finalist for best actress in a leading role during Tuesday morning's unveil, both on "Good Morning America" and on the official Academy Awards Twitter page.

But Negga, the star of "Loving," wasn't immediately listed as a nominee on the Oscars website after the finalists were first announced — with "Arrival" actress Amy Adams mistakenly taking her place in the category instead.

The Oscars updated its list shortly after the initial flub to include Negga, not Adams, as one of the five contenders -- but not before a wave of Twitter users managed to catch the blunder.

"So were Amy Adams & Ruth Negga nominated or not?" wrote one confounded user named Julie. "I'm confused."

Another named Jack Campbell took things a step further by sharing a snapshot of the Oscars website's error, writing, "#ThatMomentWhen the Official @Oscars_Live website puts Amy Adams as a nominee when they meant to put Ruth Negga..."

Adams was largely considered one of the biggest snubs for an Oscar nomination after receiving nods at both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Nominees for best actress in a leading role at next month's Oscars are Negga, Natalie Portman ("Jackie"), Meryl Streep ("Florence Foster Jenkins"), Emma Stone ("La La Land") and Isabelle Hupert ("Elle").
