Taylor Swift called it quits with Calvin Harris over the phone while he recovered from his harrowing Burbank car accident, unnamed sources told TMZ — eight years after she famously claimed Joe Jonas had dumped her in a “25-second” phone call.
The Scottish DJ was reportedly floored by the breakup call, during which Swift, calling from Nashville, said she needed space. A separate source denied the story to TMZ, insisting the pop star had actually traveled to California to aid in Harris’ recovery.
The singer dropped the metaphorical mic during a 2008 “Ellen DeGeneres Show” appearance as she opened up about her romantic prospects post-Jonas Brother.
“When I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful,” Swift said. “And when I look at that person, I’m not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”
After what appeared to be an amicable parting of ways — the DJ tweeted about “love and respect” and the Grammy winner swiftly retweeted him — paparazzi photos of Swift smooching “Thor” actor Tom Hiddleston emerged, and the exes purged their accounts of a slew of halcyon couple photos.
“Oh boy it’s about to go down,” Harris wrote in a since-deleted tweet, along with three skull emojis.
Following their caught-on-camera Rhode Island beach jaunt, the “Forever and Always” singer and her apparent new beau were spotted boarding a private jet.
Harris, meanwhile, told paparazzi “it’s all good” and said his ex was “doing her thing” — but was spotted sporting Kanye West’s pricey Yeezy sneakers, an interesting fashion choice given Swift’s ongoing feud with the rapper.
