A man who killed his girlfriend then drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach with her body in his car, causing three head-on collisions, threatened to kill his grandmother last year, the Palm Beach Post reported.
And Hugo Steven Selva’s girlfriend, Nicole Marie Novak, had a history of drug and burglary convictions, records indicate.
Selva was fatally shot by a deputy after he fled a strip mall in Lake Worth where he killed Novak.
The couple had a 3-month-old daughter together, according to their social media accounts.

Novak, 26, and Selva, 22, were identified by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.
In December 2016, Selva’s grandmother requested a restraining order against her grandson, records indicate, the Palm Beach Post reported.
She claimed he “threatened to kill me and (Selva’s sister) on multiple occasions,” the court petition shows.
Marilyn Selva said her grandson and his girlfriend usually visited and threatened her when she was -alone.

In once instance she claims that Selva, armed with a butcher’s knife, threatened to kill his grandmother, his sister, and then himself.
“I am in fear for my life as I am 77 years old and have health issues,” Marilyn Selva wrote in her petition. “Hugo’s behavior and threats are escalating. He has become more demanding and forceful,” she said.
She also alleged he suffered from drug and alcohol problems.

Novak was arrested six times between 2011 and 2012 on charges of drug possession, burglary and grand theft, records show, the Palm Beach Post reported. She served time in prison between January 2014 and May 2016.
Robert Cecere, a Selva family friend, said Hugo Selva “was too smart for school. He was always the funny guy. Good for a laugh. Loved my massage work and always made sure to get a treatment if I was in town,” the Palm Beach Post reported.
Selva appears to have been on a shooting spree.
The sheriff’s office believes he shot a man in West Palm Beach Tuesday evening and shot another man early Wednesday in Boynton Beach, the Palm Beach Post reported.
