California driver slams Lamborghini into construction trailer, wrecking $235,000 car

Cesar Castro Rodriguez slammed his green Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera into a construction trailer in Costa Mesa, Calif., the local police department said.

The impact was so forceful that it lodged the sports car — which Lamborghini says can go from 0 to 100 mph in 3.8 seconds — under the modular structure.

Miraculously, the 31-year-old Rodriguez survived the crash with minor injuries, but was booked with a drunken driving charge, police said in an Instagram post.

Cops found him meandering at the scene after about 2 a.m. last Saturday morning, looking for the 25-year-old man with whom he’d been driving.

The man was found two hours later at his home with just a few injuries, according to police, who didn’t indicate how the man made it home.

First responders spent 45 minutes trying to pry the mangled car free “due to complications including an unstable trailer and downed live wires nearby,” according to the Instagram post.

Lamborghini made the Gallardo from 2003 to 2013, and the Superleggera is one of several variations on the high-speed sports car.

Car and Driver estimated in a 2010 article that a brand new Superleggera would sell for $235,000 to $250,000.

Used versions of the Italian car listed on luxury sales sites range from $139,000 to nearly $260,000.
